Orchestras & Instrumental Ensembles – Wow the audience at the Orchestra Festival!
On Sunday, 21 March 2027, instrumental ensembles of all sizes—from quartets to symphony orchestras, concert bands, fanfare bands, brass bands, and more—will take to our concert stage in Ghent from early morning until late evening. This is a unique opportunity for approximately 15 ensembles to showcase their talent before a distinguished panel of expert adjudicators.
Each ensemble will have 20 minutes to present a varied programme. The jury will provide valuable feedback on a range of criteria, including repertoire selection, performance, interpretation, and overall artistic quality.
As with our Choir Festival, the Orchestra Festival is all about sharing passion and inspiring one another. The festival is non-competitive: rather than competing against each other, ensembles perform alongside one another in a supportive atmosphere. Every participating group receives constructive feedback from the jury, helping them to develop further and strengthen their artistic work.
All performances will be professionally recorded in both audio and video and, afterwards, the recordings will be made available free of charge to both the performers and the composers.
To round off a day filled with musical excellence, we will present the Audience Award at the end of the festival. This prize is awarded not only for technical brilliance, but above all to the orchestra that captures the hearts of the audience. The ensemble that wins the Audience Award will receive a full refund of its registration fee.
